SUCHETA BHATTACHARJEE

Sucheta Bhattacharjee, a bright exponent of the Kirana Gharana, is known for her soulful and melodious renditions of Khayal, Bhajan and Semi Classical Compositions. After an illustrious track record of performances at a very young age, she delved deep into the world of Indian Classical Music under the tutelage of one of the doyens of the Kirana Gharana, Pt. Mani Prasad.

Her music album, Love Bandish Bliss, presented and distributed by Times Music, also featuring duet bandishes with her Guru, Pt. Mani Prasad and with Ustad Rashid Khan, has been highly appreciated across the world. Soon after that, Times Music released her next album, Ek Onkar, a soulful presentation of Shabad Kirtans. After the encouraging response to the albums, T Series released an album of bhajans featuring Sucheta Bhattacharjee and Bhajan Samrat, Shri Anup Jalota. Her single, Bawri Piya Main, featuring American Jazz saxophonist George Brooks, released by

T Series, has been highly appreciated. Her recent releases include eclectic collaborations like Bhoomi Mangalam and Sarmast. Two other brilliant collaborations with the flute legend Pt. Ronu Majumdar are going to be released soon.

Sucheta has a keen sense of identifying music talents and has been identifying, auditioning and grooming aspiring musicians from across the country. The unique institution for training & learning in music, the Saregamapadhanisaa Academy, that she had established with renowned TV Producer, Gajendra Singh, had successfully trained and mentored several musicians from across the country.  The Musical Star Development Programme that she has designed, drawing from her vast experience in voice training and mentoring musicians, has created several star performers including Ravi Shukla, Sanchita Bhattacharya, Sayed Rahi Umair, Saptaparna Chakraborty, Rahul Pandey, Rohit Sonar, Sarmistha Chatterjee, Akash Ojha, Manjari Fadnis, Nandini Dev, Shilpi Paul, Rahul Mukherjee, Randeep Bhaskar, Dipin Raj, Prince Kunal, Bodhaditya Mukherjee and others.

Sucheta is also currently engaged as a founder and Programme Director in a pioneering music initiative in Meghalaya. The Cente of Excellence in Indian & Western Music in Shillong & Tura has started creating new benchmarks for youth engagement in music. The initiative has been setup with the vision to mentor and

promote the superb musical talents from the state of Meghalaya. 

She is a Sangeet Ratna in Hindustani Classical Vocal and Hindustani Semi Classical from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. She is also a Post Graduate in International Relations from Jadavpur University.

PANDIT MANI PRASAD

Pandit Mani Prasad is one of the most revered vocalists from Kirana Gharana of Hindustani Classical Music. Hailing from a lineage of musicians, Pandit Mani Prasad learnt music from his father Pandit Sukhdev Prasad, who was trained under Ustad Abdul Wahid Khan of Kirana Gharana.

Panditji is highly respected in the field of Hindustani Music. He has not only carried forward the ancient customs and traditions of the art, but also made his own contributions to its development. Under the pseudonym 'Dhyan Rang Piya', he has composed many bandishes, as well as created new ragas such as Dhyan Kalyan, Dhyani Todi among others.

He has passed on his art to many talented singers and artists such as Smt. Savita Devi Maharaj, Smt. Rita Ganguly, Smt. Uma Garg, Pt. Ramesh Jule, Pt. Vishwanath, Chandan Das, Maharaja Ranjitsinh Gaekwad, Smt. Sucheta Bhattacharjee, Smt. Surinder Kaur, among many others. He is currently a Guru at the Smt. Gangubai Hangal Gurukul in Dharwad, Karnataka and the Guru – Indian Music at the Centre of Excellence in Indian & Western Music. Panditji is a guardian angel for budding musicians with passion and commitment for the pursuit of excellence in the art of music.

 
PANDIT RONU MAJUMDAR

Ronu’s musical seeds were born inside him during his Varanasi days, where he was born on 22nd June 1963. Those days Varanasi’s musical atmosphere was at its peak hence Ronu was fortunate to be living in the midst of musical icons like Doyen of Tabla Pt. Kishan Maharaj, Thumri Queen Smt. Girija Devi & Ustad Bismilla Khan. Pt. Ronu had the fragrance of the musical air of Varanasi at his tender age. 

Pandit Ronu is a Trend setter, a style maker & responsible for popularizing flute all across the Globe of his era. He has been felicitated with many renowned awards over the years, ‘All India Radio Award was his first recognition, Aditya Vikram Birla Award in the year 1999, Sangeet Natak Academy Award 2014 & Lifetime Achievement Award by Navbharat Times in the hands of Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Devendra Phadnavis, National Kumar Gandharva Award in the year 2006, and Pandit Jasraj Gaurav Puraskar in the year 2008.

India’s top ranking flautist needs no introduction. Pandit Ronu Majumdar musical strings have delivered solace to the ears of many. He has worked with musical legends, namely Gulzar Sahab, R. D Burman, Vishal Bhardwaj, Baaba Maal, Asha Bhosle, and Khayyam. He has worked on Pt. Ravi Shankar Ji’s album ‘Chants of India’. His recordings for ‘In Custody’ a merchant ivory film was done along with Zakir Hussain and Ustad Sultan Khan in the year 1994. Ronuji also featured in ‘Remembrance’ in Trilok Gurtu’s Universal Record CD alongside Shankar Mahadevan and Shobha Gurtu.

He has been a notable figure not only in the nation but also overseas with many international music releases & Hollywood hit like ‘Primary Colours.’ He has also done recordings for his album ‘Passages’ with Philip Glass. His work has been in collaboration with international legends like Ry Cooder, George Harrison, Michael Stipe, and John Hassels.

Ronuji music takes you across different time zones and eras and creates a balmy effect. Within an instant, it takes you thousands of years back depicting the scenes of Ras Leela and in a jiffy takes you to the jam sessions done with international players. His music is divine to the ears, offers solace to the mind and brings comfort to the soul.

Pandit Ronu Majumdar has given an award – winning performance as a flautist in the Legendary Bollywood Movie ‘Maachis’ with song ‘Panee Panee Re.’ His many other contributions in the world of Bollywood are in popular hits like Judai – Meri Zindagi Tera Pyar; Ijaazat – Khaali Haath Shaam Aayee Hai; Khaali Haath Jaayegee; Aar Paar – O Majhi Teri Naiya Se and ‘Kuch Na Kaho’ in the epic legend ‘1942 – A Love Story’, and for the movie Zameen Asmaan – Aisaa Samaa Naa.

 
GEORGE BROOKS

George Brooks is a diverse saxophonist and composer, acclaimed for successfully bridging the worlds of Jazz and Indian Classical Music. He is the founder of Indian fusion groups, Summit with Zakir Hussain, Steve Smith, Kai Eckhardt & Fareed Haque; Bombay Jazz with Larry Coryell & Ronu Majumdar; the Raga Bop Trio with Steve Smith and Prasanna and Elements with Kala Ramnath & Gwyneth Wentink. George has worked with several musicians in India and has been touring the country, collaborating with artistes from across regions. He has worked on a beautiful collaboration with Sucheta Bhattacharjee, titled Bawri Piya Main.

Sayed Rahi Umair is a rare combination of mysticism, talent, passion and commitment. Words come to him as effortlessly as musical notes, instruments acquaint themselves to him as eagerly as machines and software, all leading into soulful and enigmatic compositions. A true artiste and a pleasantly eccentric musician, Rahi lives his life steeped in music. He has been training in Indian Classical Music under the tutelage of Sucheta Bhattacharjee, while collaborating with musicians from across the country. Several soulful compositions & successful collaborations at this young age is indeed the mark of true passion and talent. Rahi is the Lead Mentor, Compositions & Programming at the Centre of Excellence in Indian & Western Music. And yes, while his pursuits in music have been bringing joy to people across the world, he has also completed his Maters in Business Administration.

BHAVYA RAJ

Bhavya Raj has the rare distinction of being associated with the finest institutions and musicians due to his sheer dedication and commitment, coupled with his excellent talent as a guitarist. After his BCom-Honours, he pursued Music & Audio Production at the International College of Music in Kuala Lumpur and was hired as a Music Teacher at the IIM, Lucknow. His passion for the art then got him to intern at the Yash Raj Studios as an Audio Engineer. Bright sparks always get spotted, and so was he by the famous trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. He has since been working closely with the famous musicians and have been playing and touring with them across the world. 

 
AKING NIUMEI

Aking Niumei is a passionate musician from the pristine valleys of Manipur. Passion knows no boundaries and that spirit in him got him to be associated with one of the finest organisations in Music in India, Furtados Music. He has been long associated with the organization, guiding, mentoring and assisting most of the musicians in the city in their guitar and piano decisions. Inspired by the legendary Yngwie Malmsteen, he has developed an effective and a unique style of guitar teaching, and has a large number of students across the city.

 
CHANDAN DASS

Chandan Dass is a popular Indian Ghazal singer, who shot into limelight with his first album, which was released by Music India in 1982. Since then, he has composed and released several much-loved albums and has charmed the world with his smooth renditions of ghazals. Chandan Dass has been a trained Classical singer and has been under the tutelage of Ustad Moosa Khan and Pt. Mani Prasad. A gentleman with a charming voice, Chandan Dass is one of the most pleasant personalities in the world of music.

 
BUDHADITYA MUKHERJEE

Budhaditya Mukherjee, or Buddha, as he is fondly refereed to by his fellow musicians, has one of the most soothing voices in the fraternity. As a finalist in the famous Surkshetra on Colours TV, featuring musicians from Indian & Pakistan, he was highly appreciated by the audiences and judges alike. Buddha is a composer, singer, mentor, all rolled into a very affable, trustworthy and entertaining artiste. He has already started composing for feature films and independent albums. His single recreation of Wada Raha Sanam has clocked more than a million views on Youtube. He has always been a learner, starting at a very tender age, from his father and several other musicians, including from Sucheta Bhattacharjee. Buddha has been performing live with the likes of Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Asha Bhosle and others across the world.

 
BOOMA HANGSING

Booma Hangsing, founder of Boomarang, which was voted as one of the Top 10 Rock Acts by the Rolling Stone Magazine in 2008, which also was among the first Indian acts in the VH1 Top of Charts. Passionate composer and guitarist, Boom, as he is fondly referred to, has consistently been voted as among the top guitarists in the country – Rock Street Journal in 2010 and Times World Poll in 2015. Boom has performed across the world and has collaborated with some of the finest musicians world over. He is currently the Lead Mentor at the Centre of Excellence in Indian & Western Music.

 
ANIRUDDHA DESHPANDE

Aniruddha Deshpande has had the rare privilege of learning vocal music in the most ideal form of Guru-Shishya tradition from one of the doyens of Indian music, Pt. Mani Prasad. He has completed the 4-years rigorous training course in vocal music from Smt. Gangubai Hangal Gurukul in Hubli, Karnataka. Aniruddha is known to his students and fellow musicians as one of the most committed musicians in the fraternity. His deep resonant voice and the skills that he has mastered learning from the finest and performing across the country, has made him a top-notch artiste. Aniruddha has also the distinction of being one of the most loved mentors at the Centre of Excellence in Indian & Western Music. Ever-smiling and enthusiastic, there's never a dull moment one can experience with Aniruddha. 

 
SANCHITA

Sanchita shot into limelight winning one of the most watched TV reality shows, SaReGaMaPa Little Champs. Since then, this little champ has matured into a professional artiste, singing playback around 25 movies, with 5 solo albums to her credit and also an album with the legendary Asha Bhosle, titled, Asha & Friends. Sanchita has also been the runner-up of Zee Ek Se Badhkar Ek, Mega Challenge & Jo Jeeta Wahi Superstar. Sanchita has been a dedicated student of Sucheta Bhattacharjee and still continues to enrich herself with lessons from her guru. Winner of several awards for upcoming talents.
